Innovations in Housing Finance and Ownership Models

Some of the most important strategies for addressing the housing crisis are based on innovations in finance and ownership models—or in innovative combinations of proven models with some added twists.  

This day also focuses on the importance of redressing racial segregation in housing and implementing multi-faceted strategies to reduce the racial disparities in home ownership.

Sessions for this day will include:

·         Crowdfunding – shifting investments from Wall Street to my street

·         Neighborhood Real Estate Investment Trusts

·         Community Land Trusts

·         Land Banks

·         Other shared equity models

·         Shared appreciation models

·         Limited Equity Housing Cooperatives

·         Co-housing models

·         Resident-Owned Communities (for manufactured housing)

·         Supporting the purchase and renovation of old homes by new homeowners

·         Creating Communities of Hope in large apartment complexes

·         Supporting the transition from affordable rentals to homeownership

·         Multi-faceted strategies to reduce the racial homeownership disparities

Sessions will feature inspiring examples that demonstrate how multi-faceted strategies can address many aspects of the housing crisis in ways that require fewer taxpayer dollars to achieve greater gains in inclusive wealth-building and social justice.
